Marilyn's Snow Commentary
It's never too late for a big snow. I love snow just for itself. It's peaceful and beautiful. The only thing that's missing here is the hum of the bullwheel or the engines of snowcats. The criteria for a snow page is four inches or more and I have not done many this season.
The other side of that problem is that when we don't get enough snow in the winter and early spring, wildfires become a problem. We've already had several big fires that threatened life as we know it in the mountains. It started in April instead of August. I've had wildfire 4 miles to the east of me 2 years ago (2000's Hi Meadow wildfire). Now I've had fire 3/4 mile to the south of me (the Snaking Road Fire). The last one scared me a lot. So sometimes a big snow is just what you need to put a temporary stop to a very early fire season. Three or four feet of snow might give us a lot more wildflowers when summer gets here. I don't think that even eight feet of snow could call a halt to wildfire season.
There
are so many reasons to love snow. Please, may we have another 12"?
