To the South...
The line you can see below the trees is the
part of Pinon Road uncovered by the road grader.
Every time they go through, they take another couple of inches off my front
yard. :(
When the snow is really heavy, the trees turn into "snow ghosts."
We're not quite there with this snowfall. The snow on the boughs is the
first to fall off when the sun comes out (as it is now) and warms things
up.
To the North...
I think we had about 12 inches up here. I hear they had about the same in Denver. You can just barely see the corner of the thermometer in the upper left corner. It was about 44 degrees F. and overcast when I took this photo at 10 am. Now it is brilliantly sunny and I bet a LOT warmer. So it's melting already!

Jas the snow dog
OK, so I haven't gotten my wish. We haven't had
5 inches of snow a day. The Smokey the Bear sign made it up to High in
the winter. I think we just have to wait and see what the summer holds
in store for us up here in the high country. Traditionally, we get most
of our snow in March and April so we still have some time left. But we
know spring is here. The skiing is awesome and the bears have been spotted
moving around already.
Wish us luck this summer! Email
