YIPPEE!!!
Our Smokey the Bear sign had been up to Very High for weeks , but it's good to have some snow! It's not the pain in the butt here that it is for most folks elsewhere. The sun is very strong this high up and by the time I wake up at 7 or so, it is already melting. The snow here evaporates significantly too since it's so dry. But its still fluffy and white and I like it!

To the South, from the front door...

I think the one on the left turned out particularly well, don't you?

What I love about snow...

There is this peculiar light when it has snowed. You can tell even in that moment before you open your eyes that there is something different about the day. I've always felt that it is one of the most exciting feelings in the world.

I think my mom always thought I loved snow because I thought I wouldn't have to go to school. I never could convince that woman that I actually LIKED going to school! What I liked about snow days wasn't that I got to stay home from school. It was that I had all that daylight to go out and play in the snow!

I still like to play in the snow, only now there is a device called a chair lift to take me up the hill and a new version of an ancient device called a ski to carry me back down. Sometimes I let my companions go ahead by themselves and I'll just lay back in the snow in my bibs and parka and watch the sky and the snow and the trees and enjoy the day, the crunchy grind of the bullwheel as it turns, and the peculiar light and tranquility of a snow day.

Email me! (Just one of my MANY email addresses.)

As you may have noticed, I'm still here. The house hasn't sold and I am tempted to keep it til the economy and the local housing market (which has been exceptionally strong in the last few years) recover a bit. Besides, now that it's clean enough to show to people, I like it better! And nothing much is happening on the job front either. Do you know anyone who needs a training manager or an HR generalist? If so, call me!
